 At Lee & Mt Fuji our history in the restaurant business reaches back over 25 years to about the year 1990 in the country of Malaysia. At that time Annie owned a restaurant named the Harvest Restaurant in what she describes as a very different Malaysian culture.
After relocating to the United States Annie met James Lee, while residing in the city of Los Angeles. James had also relocated from Malaysia to the US during the year 1988. In Malaysia James had worked for some of the larger Malaysian restaurants specializing in Chinese barbecue, and many other types of cuisine.
Says Annie "At that time we had worked in many places such as Los Angeles, New York, and other parts of the country. James had also worked in areas such as Maine, New Jersey, and Keene." Then during the year 1999 after relocating locally the now James & Annie Lee made the decision to open the Lee & Mt Fuji Restaurant of Marlborough, NH. The decision was well timed with far fewer restaurants in the area. This made locating and hiring quality help much easier than now, with so many more local restaurants.
Today Lee & Mt Fuji has evolved into a true family restaurant. Family members
working together include Lee & Annie, their son and nephew, and a few additional
valued employees. When looking to the future James and Annie are not currently
planning to open any new locations, rather choosing to focus on maintaining
their high standards and family atmosphere.
Says Annie "We love our customers. We have wonderful customers for sure. We have many repeat customers who are very loyal to us, and that is very special. That is what makes us keep going. We have many customers who have moved away but come visiting the area during the holidays and then return here to dine. That makes us smile.
We always try our best. We know our food and constantly inspect for quality and freshness. We were once told that the local fire fighters commented, "oh Lee & Mt Fuji, you can sit down and eat in their kitchen." It is nice to hear people make comments like that."
